Review of The Blob (1988) by Dena S — 04 Jan 2014
I surely enjoy some 20+ year old horrors once in a while. For me, this one has almost everyting i'm looking for. A cool plot - a blob killing people and expanding as it goes after it's next victim. Cool killings with a humorus undertone and pretty good effects is a sure winner.
This is not a oscar-worthy film of course but if you take it for what it is, it is really good. Great characters with super one-liners and a nice pace will keep you interested, it's never flat or dragged out. It gave me smiles and some mild chills - not too extreme, not too soft. Clicheful o fcourse but it's not ruining the film.
Gore and soft fun is a great recipe once in a while, this is one of the better flicks of this kind with "The Fly" and "The Thing" as more serious and horrifying remake brothers.
6.5 out of 10 acid boogers.
