Review of The Black Stallion (1979) by Stu F — 22 May 2012
In a sense the whole film is an extended prelude to the final scene, and thus can seem long to people. To me, the build-up meant that the final scene was able to combine the suspense and drama of the race with the affecting beauty of the demonstrated bond between horse and boy.
This film earned its ending. It presented the ending in a fashion that I think could be little improved upon. For a so-called family movie, The Black Stallion is stunningly beautiful to me. Bravo.
