Review of The Black Stallion (1979) by Erika B — 24 May 2011
I wonder if I am the only person who had NOT seen this film as a child. What a surprise this film was. I expected (not knowing the quality of the film or remembering the story) a campy kid's movie to pass the time.
How wrong I was. This is one of the most heartwarming and wonderful films I have seen. The first half of the movie is free of a lot of dialogue and it allows the viewer to be a part of the story in a very special way.
I was really impressed with Kelly Reno's performance in this movie. He and Rooney were so excellent playing against one another. He was a natural talent.
