Review of The Big Heat (1953) by Dan H — 29 Mar 2014
A fairly straight-forward Noir, with little to no mystery. We follow a squeaky clean cop who doubles as a family man, and his attempts to rid his city of a crime syndicate. There are a few good fight scenes, and Glenn Ford excels at these.
The cinematography is also pretty good with plenty of close-ups of faces and cool shadow shots whenever Ford enters a room (his shadow precedes him). Not my favorite Noir, but it's still decent.
