Review of The Big Heat (1953) by Bruce B — 30 May 2011
If this film was released these days, it would be a critical disaster. The story would be called unoriginal and ordinary but considering it's sixty years older, it is a phenomenally iconic film that paved the way for the badass awesome cops of cinematic legend.
The characters are just fantastic and the performances that bring them to surface just shine and shimmer with the great script. But the standout of this film is Glenn Ford's amazing performance. It was like seeing Clint Eastwood, James Cagney, and Humphrey Bogart playing the same character.
It was just magic.
