Review of The Big Chill (1983) by Carolyn G — 20 Jun 2011
When done right, there's something about these one setting ensemble films that makes them feel so perfect and simple. Made at just the right time to capture a group of friends that went to college together in the swinging 60's and are now catching up with each other in the slightly more grown up and less carefree 80's.
The cast are uniformly excellent at conveying their complex relationships in a very natural way, which makes for some captivating drama even if all they do is sit around and wonder...what happened to us!?
