Review of The Beast from 20,000 Fathoms (1953) by Martin S — 09 Aug 2010
Awesome sci-fi here featuring, amazingly, some logic, and a lot less stupidness as usual. A scientist runs afoul of an arctic sea creature during an expedition up north. Noone believes his encounter of course, but as the creature goes south, following currents, more sightings are reported and then finally the creature shows up in new york, 50 years before the Clioverfield guy does.
Great special effects by Harryhausen here, a great intro to giant monster movies if that's what you want.
