Review of The Apartment (1960) by Mark L — 28 Nov 2009
This really is quite a delightful film, ahead of its time as well. I imagine this was quite provocative in 1960. It still is, although for difference reasons. Don't watch this with a feminist.
I guess people were just ready to tear off their clothes by the 60s. The moral decay of America begins.
I didn't know Shirley Mclane could be so charming since I know her from her 80s chick flick phase. It begins as a breezy comedy but delves into some dark territory: love, suicide, infidelity, promiscuity, unethical business practices, and divorce. The perfect holiday cocktail!
