Review of The African Queen (1952) by Andy L — 09 Aug 2009
Bogies best. He really is on top form as the drunken captain and Hepburn is suitably prudish alongside him. Some of the action scenes are obviously studio based, but this was 1951.
Interesting to note most of the cast got sick whilst making this. Apart from Bogie and Huston, who survived on baked beans, tinned asparagus and scotch. Thus avoiding Dysentry as a result. You have to love it, just for that.
A really great film.
