Gene Wilder took over direction of the Mel Brooks crew somewhere between Blazing Saddles and Silent Movie and this resulting flick has been a favorite of mine since I first taped it off network TV when I was about 7.
Frequently and unavoidably dismissed as a Brooksian knock-off, TAOSHSB is an overlooked gem with some truly memorable characters and sweet scenes.
