One night in between filming scenes of Young Frankenstein, Gene Wilder, Madeline Kahn and Marty Feldman must have been sitting around saying, "Gee, we hate to see all this fun end. Wouldn't it be hilarious if we did a spoof of Sherlock Holmes so we can keep the team together?" Unfortunately, they were wrong.

It wasn't hilarious at all, and it is such a disappointment to see the great comic synergy of these people wasted in this tedious burlesque. Perhaps Wilder was just using this as a warm-up for his next directorial effort, "The World's Greatest Lover", which was classic camp and genuinely funny.
