Lately, I find myself critiquing the films I watch. The dilemma is that I feel my opinions will change, shift in different directions over time, but I give them anyways. Anyways, I just watched the extended version of Cameron's the Abyss and enjoyed it.
I feel the final message is rather heavy, not particularly satisfying, and would have enjoyed a more subtle approach, but overall, I found the rest of the film very enjoyable. It's entertaining, something it should be, and exactly what I expected from the man.
