Review of Sweet Smell of Success (1957) by Louise C — 30 Nov 2010
In spite of, or more accurately, because of the excellent performances by Burt Lancaster and Tony Curtis, I found this movie hard to watch. Their relationship was as twisted as two cars ensnared after a violent collision, just as sickening to see and just as hard to look away from.
While I think it's awful this movie was snubbed by the Academy, perhaps they too found it too dire to linger upon.
