I liked the surfing aspect of the documentary but I can't say I agree with their lifestyle choices. To send your kids into the "real world" with no formal education or even knowledge of how the "real world" works is kind of messed up.

And then to not want to associate with your children because they wanted to grow up and find there own way...also pretty shitty. All-in-all, it is nice to see a different perspective on raising kids (whether I agree or not).
