Review of Super Fly (1972) by Sofia B — 10 May 2008
Priest is looking for a way out of his drug dealing life and so plans one last big deal but with it comes trouble.
Awesome music from Curtis Mayfield and I couldn't help but get the feeling that the movie was more of an homage to Curtis' music than anything else. There are long sequences through the movie where all you can do is enjoy the music, not that I'm complaining, because... it's fantastic music.
I got irritated with all the scenes that was: they sniff some cocain or smoke some weed, say about two sentences and the do some more drugs before they say two more words and leave. It wouldn't have hurt to make somthing more of it.
Yeah, yeah, I'm just too young to fully apprieciate the blaxploitation-era.
Summary: cool clothes, awesome music, average acting and simple but classic story.
