Review of Sunshine on Leith (2013) by Matthew D — 03 Feb 2014
It's a sort of Mamma Mia for Proclaimers fans, as Dexter Fletcher's rather watchable but mostly average musical cheerily dances around the backdrop of Edinburgh. As a Scot, the only thing that was remotely wrong with this film, was the hugely miscast Jane Horrocks.
Now, I'm not saying Horrocks is a terrible actress(in fact, she is one of my favourite actresses, and her vocal capabilities are way beyond average), but her accent was bluntly offensive and the script didn't help matters.
Stick to being English, Jane.
