Remarkable performances from the whole cast, which is itself an exception not a rule, directed expertly by the surprisingly talented Fletcher, and steering a course the right side of romantic realism, this is a very tough film not to slowly fall in love with.
Parochial yet universal, with an ending that is not happy but is utterly joyful.
