Val and 50 have good chemistry. There was enough mindless violence and brutality to keep viewers interested. Val Kilmer does a nice job as the veteran cop, who has to try and deal with a post Hurricane Katrina New Orleans which is out of control.
Gritty texture, dark low-lit scenes work for the film.
