Review of Streets of Blood (2009) by Coxxie M — 17 Oct 2009
This mediocre Val Kilmer & Sharon Stone legal thriller about police corruption in New Orleans has several well-staged shoot-outs, but the plot remains so muddled that you find yourself up to your ears in complications galore.
Director Charles Winkler creates atmosphere as well as incoherence in this hackneyed saga. Veteran narc Andy (Val Kilmer) likes to make up his rules and the last thing that is going to stop him from raiding the crib of a drug trafficker is a search warrent.
Sharon Stone spends the entire time listening to cops tell her about their impressions after they have shot suspects, many of whom did not deserve their fate. Everything begins to unravel when another pair of unethical N.
O. cops decide to kill a pimp and confiscate his money. They discover too late that the pimp was an undercover DEA agent. 50 Cent plays Andy's new partner and he has a wife and three kids. Nothing compelling here and virtually everybody including a dirty FBI agent Brown (Michael Biehn of THE ROCK) and our protagonist square off against each other.
Stone does not do much of anything.
