Review of Street Trash (1987) by Sam J — 09 Dec 2009
I had wanted to watch this since I was a kid: I remember this poster/VHS cover at the video-store (and consider it to this day as being one of the best posters EVER developed, if not the best), but was always too much of a wuss to rent it.
Since then, I have grown up, been in love with horror movies - especially low-budget ones - and this one was on the TOP of my list to watch, and with much anticipation.
Unfortunately, bad writing (normally an ok sign for me as I love bad writing and acting), loose characters, and most of all, the fact that my expectations for gore and disgust wasn't met (and I'm ALL for bad acting and low-budget): I absolutely loved the death-scenes, and appreciate the way they were executed, but the movie ran 102 minutes - and the majority of that was spent watching an aimless plot!
As with Transformers (which I have loved since childhood - I have the tattoo to prove it which I got about eleven years ago), the move was too long and should have been cut (and also shouldn't have been handed to Michael 'Explosions' Bay.
I'm only giving this movie a 40% because I feel I got what I expected in the 'gore' category, but it just wasn't worth sitting through that long. It's disappointing because I WANTED to give this a higher rating, but I gotta be true to myself.
