Review of Steep (2007) by Larry T — 26 Feb 2008
Is it the years in your life, or the life in your years that is most important? That is what this film made me think about as I was watching it. For the people in this film it is clearly the life in the years that matters.
Having lived within 50 feet of sea level my entire life and also having never seen snow let alone put on a pair of skis, this was not a movie I watched for the epic skiing footage because I feel some sort of connection to it. I did however watch this film because I have always been intrigued by people who are willing to risk it all for pure enjoyment. People who place the full enjoyment of the present moment over all else. It is not a lifestyle for everyone, and for those people truly happy growing old spending their years in safety and comfort this film is probably hard to understand but this film could help to remove some of the confusion. If you ever wondered why some people risk their lives to do certain things like sky down mountains this is a great film to sit down and watch. Highly recommend.
