Review of Starship Troopers (1997) by Arturo V — 24 Jun 2011
*SPOILERS* When I first saw this movie, I would have given it 4 stars maybe. But there are an insane number of problems I have with this movie. #1 there are gaping plot holes in every single scene. Why didn't the bugs attack the soldiers when they were capturing the brain bug? What stopped them.
Last I knew there were millions of them and they didn't die! #2 every soldier is stupid in this film. Every one of them. First off, why would you go to into a battle field with a bunch of alien bugs with machine guns.
You need 300 bullets to kill one ****ing bug! Get a rocket launcher! And if we are in the future in the movie... why don't we have anything more effective? We have pocket nukes for crying out loud.
Second, they shot one... ONE air strike. An effective one. DO IT AGAIN! Layer the planet with bombs! Next they set up a base camp not once... not twice... but three times on the planet and each time they had to flee the camp.
NEXT they knew that those big bugs could shoot blasts into space that reach other planets so why the HELL would you dock you starships near the atmosphere where they are CLEARLY in range for being attacked.
ONE MORE PROBLEM... WHY SPARE THE NUKES??? Find a nest and nuke 'em every chance you get! C'mon! #3... acting sucked.
