Review of Starship Troopers (1997) by Matt C — 16 Aug 2018
This has aged terribly, the effects and the acting are basically battling it out to see which is more wooden. At the time the film was panned as being action tosh and then retrospectively it was held up as a satirical masterpiece.
I don't really see it as either. It's OK, some of the jokes work but nowhere near as successfully or insightfully as Verhoeven managed in his previous film 'Robocop'. Worth watching again but it's overlong, I may give the source novel a read.
