Review of Star Trek III: The Search for Spock (1984) by Paul P — 10 Jul 2010
A serveable film that doesn't quite live up to it's predessor.
Picking up alomst directly after the events of Trek 2, Kirk goes rogue to find Spock and bring him back to the world. The effects work is very nice and having Doc Brown himself as the baddie was an unusual but good move.
Unfortunately there are elements within the film that don't ring true (Kirk as a father, a trek flick without Spock for the most part). Also the end confrontation on the Genesis planet is clumsy and should have been so much more exciting than it actually was.
Not bad, but should have been so much better...
