Review of Stalag 17 (1953) by Bryan W — 04 Jan 2009
The story is great! It mixes comedy, drama, suspense which I am given to understand is the product of Wilder's work. The acting was superb. Holden deserved his Oscar (although I'd argue that the other nominees deserved it more specifically Montgomery Clift)).
Strauss as Animal was hilarious especially with Lembeck. The significance of the ping pong balls still eludes me. Cookie mentioned their importance but I didn't catch it.
