Review of Stake Land (2010) by Matthew C — 04 Aug 2011
Like Zombieland without the laughs. Or like The Road with zombies. Or a little like both. The monsters are supposed to be vampires, and while I prefer them not to be pretty, glistening, or with the ability to fly; I do think they should be sentient.
These are not, but the movie is. Apart from the extraordinarily overused "evil religious zealot cult" (why noy have these things be positive and helpful, like they have been throughout history?) it is very creative.
Good storytelling, cinematography, and characters. McGillis is almost unrecognizable.
