Review of Stake Land (2010) by Niklas J — 29 Dec 2012
While the film suffers a little due to mediocre special effects and some poor performances from a few secondary characters, it is overall a very well done horror film. If I had to compare it to any other film I would say that it is like a low-budget version of Zombieland without any of the comedy (and no zombies, just vampires).
Like most post-apocalyptic films, Stake Land uses the setting to explore existentialist themes, but it also critiques American right-wing politics and Christian fundamentalism.
