Review of Spartacus (1960) by Ken S — 08 May 2012
This film has plenty to offer but its length is its biggest weakness. It feels more pretentious than necessary in its length. So much stuff could've been cut and the story wouldn't have been hurt a bit.
It has some decent battles though, and I liked the story, and Douglas' performance is great...but its never a good sign when you stop caring and notice how much longer you have left to go (I've sat through Lord of the Rings without getting bored, so I think the pacing was lacking in this one).
The movie isn't terrible, it just could've been much better.
