A wonderful tragedy. Streep's preformance in this movie is the greatest by any actor ever! Streep actually learned both Polish and German for the part. The most disturbing scene ever filmed. Streep told director Pakula that she could only film the infamous "choice" scene once because it was too distrubing and she could not handle it emotionally.
