Review of Sophie's Choice (1982) by Ya'lita T — 24 Apr 2011
Great harrowing story about a Polish immigrant who is a Holocaust survivor. She tries to flees from her haunting grief-stricken past by diving into a reckless future with an unpredictable, violent, and charismatic lover.
Certainly one of Streep's (who is very pretty in this film) best performances with lots of rawness and naturalness to it. I like how the movie unfolds and how the writer is the narrator, beware it's a long film.
I had no idea what this story was about and thought it was about having an abortion, obviously I was surprised how the film unfolded. This movie has a lot of good twists and was certainly interesting.
A hard film to watch and I wish the ending was different, but it was good.
