Review of Son of Frankenstein (1939) by Jonathan S — 13 Oct 2010
The third and final Frankenstein of the '30s, Son of Frankenstein continues with surprising quality, even if the cheese factor is up significally at times. Bela Lugosi steals the show as Ygor, while Karloff's monster is once again voiceless and shoved into the background.
The adventure ending has little to put against the heart-wrenching endings of the first two, but the movie constitutes a worthy finale to Universal's Frankenstein saga.
