Review of Something Wicked This Way Comes (1983) by Aaron T — 03 Sep 2008
Wow- this movie faithully adapts Bradbuy's masterpiece (probably because Bradbury himself helped adapt it). The special effects were way ahead of their time for the most part. Like most of Bradbury's works, there is something that needs a second time around to fully understand.
In this case, it is the title. Why does Will's dad quote MacBeth (By the pricking of my thumb/Something wicked this way comes)when he is confronted by Dark? To insinuate that evil is its own undoing? Oh well-- enjoyed it regardless.
And it has Pam Grier. Who would have guessed it?
