Review of Something Wicked This Way Comes (1983) by Scott W — 17 Jan 2011
Well ahead if its time, this bizarre and dark carnival tale has a lot going for it. The opening theme is fantastic, and the sense of dread in the pacing is very even and effective. The acting is decent, the plot is interesting (if ancient) and the script is tolerable.
However, this movie suffers dramatically from a lack of technology when it was made. The special effects are largely hand-drawn animation, and it takes you completely out of the story. This is one that I'd love to see remade.
