Review of Somebody Up There Likes Me (1996) by Richard S — 19 Dec 2007
"don't worry about a thing!".
Paul Newman as Rocky Graciano... if you like the heroic optimism oozing from the first 2 ROCKY's, you'll see in this film where the inspiration came from. Down to the detail of Newman's hat and clothing, as well as the walk past the fruit-stands, it's pretty amazing how Robert Wise's original isn't given the credit it deserves. Paul Newman is fit, and the boxing sequences brought a new sense of realism to Hollywood depictions of ringside action [for that era]... a must see for fans of boxing films or stories of triumph where the little guy fights his way to the top.
