Review of Solo: A Star Wars Story (2018) by Jake D — 02 Jun 2018
The Last Jedi was a DISASTER. It failed in writing on many levels. Ever since seeing Ep IV in the theaters at age 6 I have been a longtime SW fan. I was sickened by Ep VIII and honestly expected that Solo would suck. But tonight I saw an awesome movie. It was great.
Yes, I want Kathleen Kennedy gone from Disney too, but it's ridiculous how petty some longtime fans are being in their prejudice against this movie.
Alden is not Harrison Ford. But who is? Still, I think he did a great job portraying a young Solo's charisma, extreme confidence, daring and the reason for his lack of trust in Ep IV.
The backstory with Chewie was fantastic. They portrayed a great origin story for their devotion to one another that lasted a lifetime.
AND they effectively answered the question that I've never heard even asked - How in the world did The Rebellion get the money that built all those awesome ships and train their people? Answer - Han Solo, Chewie and Lando.
Go see it. It's definitely worth it.
