Review of Solo: A Star Wars Story (2018) by D W — 12 Jan 2019

It was... ok. Emilia Clarke was great, Glover and Harrison had decent performances. The biggest problem was Ehrenreich. The guy was miscast, he's too much of a goofball to try and fill the shoes of Harrison Ford in a believable way. There were a couple of stupid political elements like the insufferable L3-37 and the (predictable) revealed identity of Enfys Nest, but other than that the film was dialed waaayyy back from the political propaganda overload of TLJ, which was nice. It's a Star Wars B movie. Not terrible, kind of enjoyable, but overall kind of meh.

After having seen it, I'm convinced the only reason Solo bombed was because of TLJ and the way Lucasfilm and the media kept up their constant barrage of attacks and slanders of the Star Wars fans who hated that movie.
