Review of Silent Running (1972) by Rob E — 02 Aug 2008
An okay but too sentimental sci fi film. Bruce Dern (who is brilyant as one of the neighbours in THE BURBS) gives a good performance and the themes are interesting and all that. The problem is tho there isnt anything that grabs the viewer, it gets boring very quickly to be honest.
If you want a better film that is basically saying the same thing - watch WALL*E because its more interesting, fun and above all entertaining. Okay in bits then but overall plodding and unintersting.
