Review of Silent Hill (2006) by Andrew R — 27 Oct 2012
Don't understand why this movie gets so much hate from the SH fandom- if they'd made it completely faithful to SH1, what would be the point? Just play the game or watch a Let's Play. They changed it enough for it to stand on its own, forming it into a slightly alternate universe from the series. The mixture of elements from different games makes sense in the context of it deviating outside the original universe setting, and helped encompass the feel across the first few games.
Some cheesy dialogue, but that's an unfortunate fault of translating video games into film.
The handing of Pyramid Head was ideal; he was given just enough of a spotlight without being thrown in our faces; being very much part of the world, part of the background, an iconic backdrop creature rather than a stand-alone character. Unlike the fanservice-flaunting they'd done in Homecoming and SH: Revelations.
