Review of Sicko (2007) by Ohad A — 29 May 2010
Here is another fantastic documentary film by a great filmmaker. This time Michael Moore takes on the American healthcare system....if one can call it a system after all. In order to make it absolutely clear that the US healthcare system is a failure and only benefits corporations, the US government, and people with money, Moore travels to Canada, England, and France only to realize that these countries have a free healthcare system which covers all individuals regardless of income or condition. To throw in the final punch, Moore takes a small group of volunteer 9/11 rescue workers to Cuba where they finally receive free treatment. These people had suffered from respiratory ailments but couldn't afford treatment in the US or had been denied by their insurance companies.
This film is brilliantly composed by Michael Moore, and of course, I wouldn't expect anything less.
