Review of Sicario (2015) by Daniel L — 02 Apr 2018
"This is the land of wolves now.".
A smartly written, though provoking film with fantastic camerawork by the master Roger Deakins, a solid script that does away with exposition cliches, and superb, superb acting from everyone involved, from Emily Blunt to Josh Brolin. But the main drive for this film in my eyes is none other than Benicio del Toro.
You may remember him as the man who gave Tommy Lee Jones a run for his money in The Hunted, the villain's henchman who almost killed Dalton's James Bond in License to Kill, but finally here he is in a role we shouldn't be quick to forget: a government sanctioned hitman driven by gruesome demons. Sicario is a plausible film with just enough action and non cliche occurrences to keep it that way.
