Review of Shortbus (2006) by Henry T — 25 Apr 2008
For all its highly publicized unsimulated sex scenes, this is surprisingly not as explicit as one (who doesn't think every sexual act/image/thought is pornographic) might imagine. In fact, almost all the sex scenes are tied into the development of the characters, something most movies can't manage to do with that singular intention.
This might be the first true adult film of the new generation. It accepts sex as a part of our society but acknowledges there is too much static surrounding it to enjoy it or even understand it. Sometimes the lights just need to be switched off before we can see clearly.
