Review of Shortbus (2006) by Jack — 17 Oct 2006
Extremely disappointing. Sook Yin-Lee should take acting lessons from Keanu Reeves. Her eagerness to please the viewer is pathetic and even more (unbelievably) annoying than her stint on CBC radio. The sloppy (literally) screenplay tries to tackle everything from sex to suicide with faux-sincerity that rings hollow from beginning to end.
Lots of gay sex for a movie that bills itself as a woman's quest to achieve orgasm. A few funny scenes and some neat computer animation save it from a 0. Waste of an evening otherwise.
