Review of Short Term 12 (2013) by Jim T — 15 Sep 2013
Having worked in similar settings as an on-line staff, therapist and administrator with similar toss-away kids and their families, I can attest that this movie captures the feel of that work remarkably well.
There is dramatic license of course, but it was surprisingly accurate in it's portrayal of the ups and downs of this work. More importantly, the movie reminds us of the costs of abandoning teenagers.
That each person deserves and needs people to care about them. Brie Larson is a compelling actress and the supporting cast around her is flawless. A must see movie with a likely Best Actress nomination in store for Ms.
Larson.
