Review of Shame (1968) by Garrett T — 08 Apr 2008
In Skammen, Bergman shows how can one make a movie about war without "impossibly beautiful and horrifying" pictures of explosions, fire, misery and death. It also has parallel message about war: Men and Women are fighting it all the time, every day and every minute.
Possibly the most profound idea for "war-movie" ever put on film, althought it falls short of perfection, like all of late- Swedes films. Perfomances are, as always, exceptional.
