Review of Shadow of a Doubt (1943) by Vova Z — 30 Jun 2008
Hitchcock once said that, of all the films he made, this was his favorite. And it's hard not to see why; simply put, this is one of the director's best American films. Much has been written about this film so I will keep my comments brief.
From the casting of Teresa Wright and Joseph Cotton in the leads to Hume Cronyn and MacDonald Carey in supporting roles, the location shootings of urbane New Jersey to the suburban Santa Rosa setting, and the clever direction and shot selection -- everything just works in this gripping suspense movie.
A must see.
