Review of Seven Swords (2005) by Geonard Y — 06 Nov 2006
Directed by Tsui Hark.
Starring Donnie Yen, Leon Lai, Charlie Young, Sun Hong-lei, Lu Yi-ching, Kim So-yeon.
Fighting men with gorgeous moves. Attractive leading ladies hard-nosed during conflict. Nifty swords with nicknames. Face-painted villains with the same nifty weapons. Storyline borrowed from ?Seven Samurai? and ?Lord of the Rings.? A corny scene of two teary-eyed men saying goodbye to a horse. Not too hot fight choreography but beautifully photographed scenery. It?s somewhere between ?Crouching Tiger? and ?Bloodrayne? and that about sums it all up.
Best Scene: Wall to wall swordplay.
