Review of The Kid Who Would Be King (2019) by Joshua B — 26 Jan 2019
It falls flat as an action movie. There is never a moment of suspense, there is no feeling of real danger, no moment where you think the hero might fail or win at a cost.
The movie also tries to be funny, but the number of intended jokes compared to how often I, or my friend that went with me to the movie, laughed shows that it failed as a comedy.
My friend actually ended up falling asleep during the final conflict, as the movie was unable to hold his attention at all.
If anything, the movie falls into the "it is so bad it is enjoyable" category, but just barely.
Furthermore, for a Friday night, and opening night, the theatre was EXTREMELY empty. There were maybe seven or eight people in the theatre. This does not bode well.
Overall, I cannot rate it higher than 1 star.
