Review of Seven Samurai (1954) by Unkn0Wn_Disease — 27 Feb 2015
Akira Kurosawa was the Master of Cinema. This is one of the greatest movies of all time. Not just has this movie influenced some of the greatest westerns but also his reach in general has been seen and felt without you ever even knowing it.
The story of a group of people who did not know each other but banded together to save a village is a story of sacrifice that just never gets old. His story telling techniques and characters are well fleshed out.
This is a must see for anyone who loves Cinema in general to see how it has influenced all the movies since it's release.
Directly this was remade into The Magnificent Seven. although that was an awesome Western and a Classic the Original Seven Samurai is just far and above.
The Criterion Collection Bluray makes it even more gorgeous and gives so much more than just the movie and well worth the price.
