Review of Seven Samurai (1954) by Weaselboyst — 05 Feb 2013
This is one of the most entertaining movies I've ever seen. The dynamic between the characters is beautifully done. I still can't get around the fact that Kurosawa wrote each of the characters background just for this movie; now that's commitment.
The story seems straightforward on the surface but it's the driving point of each characters development that is put into focus. Each performance is nuanced and even Mifune's seemingly goofy performance lies a history that drives to do what he does. One of my favorite movies and should not be missed.
