Review of Seven Samurai (1954) by Helen L — 01 Jul 2010
Brilliant! I am humbled by such a great masterpiece in film! Kurosawa had a vision that he knew how to put on the screen. His characters made themselves real, and his grimy, horrid vision of war was depicted and timed so well.
While the movie was extremely long, it brought out the realism that you do not see in many films today. Even the landscape and the animals they used were dirty, worn down, and sincere. I can definitely see why so many filmmakers have aspired toward Kurosawa Akira and have striven to merely approach his level of raw and unbridled talent.
Domo Arigato Kurosawa-sama.
